Encapsulation

Encapsulation is the process of applying a waterproof, plastic film to the surface of the paper or board on both sides with a 3-5mm border to give the material a protective coating. This is used to strengthen and add longevity to the final product. It is perfect for any product that is going to be regularly handled or requires extra durability such as menus, manuals, catalogues, membership cards, ID cards, loyalty cards, signage and posters. It is also ideal if you want to add extra thickness to your page or document.

There are four different weights of encapsulating film to choose from, available in matt or gloss finish:

  • 42 Microns per side (1.5 thou)
  • 75 Microns per side (3 thou)
  • 125 Microns per side (5 thou)
  • 250 Microns per side (10 thou)

Our standard, most popular one is 125 microns per side (5 thou) gloss which fits the majority of customer requirements.

We can encapsulate all kinds of papers and boards and often with a very quick turnaround. We can encapsulate all standard A sizes (A7 up to A0+), business card size and any custom size, so the options are endless! We also offer a round cornering service so the corners are not as sharp – perfect if being handled by children or the general public.

Please look at our information on lamination if you do not require a border or a weatherproof solution.

Please note we cannot accept any liability for damage to supplied documents for laminating or encapsulating due to the process involved.
